We always have a good meal here. The menu is varied and there are often specials. The food is fresh and well prepared. More people should be eating here! It's great
Charming atmosphere. Great food, reasonable portions and attentive staff.
Great find! Service was wonderful and the food was fresh and delicious. I recommend the beet and goat cheese salad and the rib eye steak
Went with a large group hard to day if their menu is ok or not. The meal was chosen for us it was good
Had a wonderful meal tonight. Fresh bread warm out of the oven. Scallops were delicious with the maple dijon sauce. Loved it! Our waitress was great.
My family and I were on our way to Maine on vacation and decided to stop in West Brattleboro, VT for lunch. We found the New England House on the way. What a nice place! The service was excellent and the good was delicious! We had a variety of burgers which were cooked to order and were very tasty! Of you're traveling or in the area, stop and enjoy a meal! You will enjoy it!
Very nice bar. Reasonably priced. Nice for a quiet early evening cocktail & snack.
We went here with some locals to the area. We were not disappointed. The food was good and the service was superb. Our drinks were kept full even though we were at a table in the bar area. They did great with our larger group and made us all feel at home. Fun ambiance. We will go back the next time we are in the area.
The New England House serves excellent food. However, the wait for the order is unacceptable. We were there on Thursday evening without a full house, and we waited for over one hour for our food. We had our two year old granddaughter with us and lucky she is so well behaved. I was famished and could barely eat my dinner. I’m so disappointed and am not sure I’ll go back there. Not the waitress nor the owner had anything to say to us. Be forewarned.
Glad that I stopped at this place on my visit to western New England in November, 2016. It is in a nice, rustic building. It is located just west of Brattleboro in southeast Vermont on Route 9. They have an excellent selection of food items on their menu. If you happen to be in that area, I encourage you to give them a try.
Great food, drink atmosphere and waitstaff.
Great place to eat , pleasant environment friendly attentive staff great food!!!
I have been going to this place many years ago and I liked it then. We were hungry and the New England House happened to be close by. We stopped for lunch. The service was excellent, the food was great and the coffee tasted good too. I will go back even if it doesn't happen to be close by. Yes, I can send a friend there without risking a friendship.
What a nice and cozy restaurant. Coming from Connecticut and on our way up to Hinsdale NH. I saw this online. They had a special mothers day menu, but still had a nice selection to choose from. Food was hot and prompt, server was attentive. All in all a nice dinner. Glad we stopped by.
The people are very friendly, the service is great and their French onion soup is the best ever
Good food, nice decor, good service. Burger i had was excellent
Great restaurant- all food made fresh in house (including the bread and brioche buns!), food locally sourced & menu updated daily. Advertised as ‘fine country dining” but the menu was very diverse. We had clam chowder (excellent even in 90 degree weather), pulled pork sandwich (delicious, maple glaze was outstanding and the bun perfectly toasted and homemade), and scallops and risotto with sweet corn, topped off with rhubarb cheesecake (worthy of the descendant of a Brooklynite who grew up with NY style cheesecake) and coffee. In COVID times, it’s worth noting the large side covered porch with well-spaces tables, and the careful practices of the staff. If you are traveling Rte 9 near Brattleboro, anywhere near Molly Stark State Park - do yourself a favor and stop here for lunch or dinner!
The vegitarian noodle dish i got (I forgot the name) was insanely good. It was way to cold in the establishment, but considering it is called the new England house and it was being heated with a wood stove, I accepted. Haha.
Atmosphere was beautiful and rustic. We were seated next to the hearth where a fire was going. Food was good but pricey.
Charming restaurant with a very varied menu. Staff is amazing and make you feel right at home. Definitely worth a visit. You will not be disappointed!
The place is neat. We were sitted next to the fireplace right after a cold day on the slopes and it was perfect. Our waitress was extremely helpful and complied with our request (out of menu order). Portions are large enough for the price and the wine glasses are more than decently filled which is great. We will definitely come back.
Cozy, quiet atmosphere at 5:30pm. Sarah was an excellent waitress who answered all of our questions as we had a hard time deciding. New England Clam chowder was excellent. Onion soup could have had a little more beef flavor. Drinks were made perfectly. VT burger and Sirloin tips were cooked to perfection. Definitely would recommend this restaurant.
The food was fresh and delicious. Cozy atmosphere and a very friendly staff! Will definitely be back the next time we are in the area. Stop in, it's worth it 👍👍
Cajun night!! Our favorite. I had a Mary and the Boys (Bloody Mary with a couple of hangers-on (shrimp), and the husband had what he termed "the best mojito." We had fried alligator and fried oysters for apps, and they were both tender, juicy and fried to perfection. The hubs had shrimp creole, and he loved it. I had soft shell crabs that were served with my favorite greens and a very light and tasty coleslaw, and let me tell you, they were fabulous! Top this all off with shared cream puffs - again excellent with a wonderful vanilla pudding center, drenched in a chocolate sauce that made us want to lick-the-plate! Oh - and the best coffee! All served up by a friendly, attentive server. Run, don't walk, to the New England House!
Restaurant booked for the day by group. Food was good and plentiful. Service excellent. A very nice place in which to eat and talk. I'd go back on my own
It was pretty good. Service was a little slow and the food was ok.
This is such an awesome restaurant. My fiance and I ate here tonight and had some of the best burgers (the Vermont and tavern) we've had in years! For our meals and drinks, the bill was less than $30. The service was amazing --- our waitress was super friendly and attentive.
Had a great meal here, pulled pork sandwich. Great service! Definitely recommend.
They have a nice variety on the menu and prices are comparable for the area - local chicken breast w 2 sides $18; Glass of wine $7-10. Our server was very good. Food came out a little slow, but they were very busy. Food was hot when it arrived. The large booth section offers a dining area for special, quieter dinners. There's a lively bar for those who want more action. All in all, it is worth the trip to West Brattleboro (less than 10 minutes from Exit 2 Vermont).
Nice atmosphere. There for lunch with only one other customer at the time. Food was ok. Service seemed slow for the lack of business.
My son and I say they have the BEST wings in town!
Wow! What a great find! I never write reviews, but this place deserves one. Excellent service and hospitality; can't say enough! Absolutely the best chowder I have ever had, out of this world! The burger and fries were awesome too. I would definitely recommend The New England House.
Apon arrival it looked warm and welcoming,BUT the service was EXTREMELY slow and inexperienced ,we felt invisible at times and never received any chance of an appitizer,we had to ask for bread twice only to receive it twenty minutes later,I thought they may make up for it with there food but ,NOPE,, that didn't happen ither, the food wasn't cooked to our specifications and the portion a were small, I won't be back again, the only thing they were quick about was getting paid.
Outstanding food! Amazing service! We loved our experience here! The chef knows what he’s doing! Can’t say enough about the beet and goat cheese salad and duck dish! We will be back! Thank you for having us!!!
